Key requirements

Permits: All public sanitary sewer mains require an IEPA Construction permit number and an Illinois Pollution Control Board permit number, prior to construction. Some private extensions may require a permit, dependent upon the design population equivalent [E03].
Sizing and installation: Grease/oil/sand trap manholes, as required by the Illinois Plumbing Code, shall be shown on the engineering plans. Sizing calculations demonstrating compliance and a detail [E02].
Inspections: All projects shall be inspected and tested upon completion of installation. The City Engineer will designate the locations of tests and extent of the system to be tested, and extent of recording test results [E06].
Inspections: The City of Naperville may require that sewer lines be inspected visually to verify accuracy of alignment and freedom from debris and obstructions. The percentage of sewer lines inspected will be designated by the City Engineer. The full diameter of the pipe for straight alignments [E05].
Inspections: All manholes shall be thoroughly cleaned of dirt and debris and all visible leakage eliminated before final inspection and acceptance [E07].

Copies of all permits obtained by outside agencies, to be provided to the city prior to the start of construction [E04].

Records of inspections and testing, including test results as designated by the City Engineer [E06].
